Dimitrios Zaharakis initially founded Blackbox Comics as an independent publisher with the inspiration of one of his well-known books he wrote: I.T. The Secret World of Modern Banking. He thought it was a great and timely story to be told which got the creative wheels spinning and lead to ideas for other stories and the best way to have control of this was to form Blackbox Comics. Some of the biggest challenges in an already cutthroat industry is the fact that you’re new. Comic shops have limited shelf space and funds have yet still found ways to support indies. However, it’s still not enough from a financial aspect.
Dimitrios has been speaking with Tarik for a while prior to working together. During this time, he has seen his skills in several areas (design, art, etc.) continue to improve and knew he was ready to tackle some projects for BlackBox Comics.
OUR PROCESS
While we were communicating with Dimitrios on promoting his first book: I.T. The Secret World of Banking, we were tasked with designing the inside and back covers to all his issues in addition to social media marketing for each of his new issues released monthly. We tried tackling on the ideas of cybersecurity, economy, mystery, and identity crisis as we reflect them on all of our designs.

On top of our book and social media designs, Dimitrios wanted to utilize our video production services and create one-minute ads for each of his books. We focused on the themes of the series and built various hi-tech elements such as futuristic HUD designs, emails, grids, and interfaces to help visualize what the story is about…with lots of glitches!

If that wasn’t enough, BlackBox Comics was also attending various comic conventions promoting their new books, and asked us for comic-con banner and table designs. How cool was that?!

THE RESULT
According to BlackBox, we were super helpful in providing ads that caught people’s attention, and even helped designed their own website and other graphic designs! We’ve put the time and thought behind each project to understand what was needed for the ultimate outcome; and as a result their books are being sold out…literally.
We would certainly recommend working with Tarik for any of your projects. He possesses several skills which make him unique and an important team player for any company.
